Foresters Friendly Society

Established in its present form in 1834, Foresters is one of the oldest and largest friendly societies in existence. As a not-for-profit organisation, all monies are applied for the benefit of our members and the wider community we serve.

With generations of experience and a strong tradition of personal service, we pride ourselves on providing a friendly and welcoming environment. Whether you wish to visit our office in St Peter Port or simply speak with us by telephone, our team is always pleased to assist.

We are also proud supporters of local charities, community initiatives and sporting organisations, helping to make a positive contribution across Guernsey.

Please note that, with effect from 31 July 2026, Foresters Friendly Society no longer provides insurance products directly. These arrangements have transferred to Foresters Healthcare Insurance Limited.

Why be a part of our Society:

You may apply to become a member of the court and may be entitled to:

  • Up to £150 per calendar year in respect of any combination of dental or optical treatments, glasses or contact lenses.
  • A one-off claim from the subsidiary benefit fund per calendar year. Payments under this fund are at the discretion of the Society, to be used to assist members in financial hardship in respect of medical treatment (within standard policy rules).
  • After two years’ membership has been completed a member may be entitled to a grant in respect of convalescent home care.
  • After one year’s membership has been completed a member may be entitled to an Educational Award grant.
  • Members may also make a grant claim for financial loss due to the result of a natural disaster i.e. storm, flood or lightning strike etc. All claims, if considered worthy of assistance in excess of funds available with the court, may be referred to Head Office with a request from the Court for an additional grant.
  • A member’s next of kin may apply for a discretionary death grant of £250 upon the death of said member, provided two years of continuous membership have been completed.

Please note that all benefits and grants are discretionary goodwill payments and are only available subject to the Society’s rules and the availability of funds.
