2 July 2026 – St Peter Port, Guernsey
Foresters Healthcare has today announced changes to the structure through which its healthcare insurance is delivered in Guernsey and Jersey.
The changes form part of a wider reorganisation of the Ancient Order of Foresters Friendly Society’s insurance activities, although the Guernsey and Jersey healthcare insurance business is not part of the planned transfer of the Society’s UK insurance business.
From 31 July 2026, healthcare insurance for policyholders in Guernsey and Jersey will be provided by a newly established, Guernsey based insurer, Foresters Healthcare Insurance Ltd.
For policyholders, the key message is continuity and reassurance:
- Cover will continue automatically with no interruption
- Policy terms, benefits and premiums will remain unchanged
- The same local team will continue to administer policies and support members
- Claims handling arrangements will continue without disruption.
This new structure has been developed in consultation with the relevant regulators and is designed to ensure that affordable, locally administered healthcare insurance remains available to island residents for the long term.
Importantly, the change does not affect members’ existing Foresters membership benefits, which will continue as normal.
Foresters Healthcare Insurance Ltd. forms part of a member-focused structure designed to reflect the Society’s long-standing mutual ethos. The insurer is owned through a Guernsey company limited by guarantee rather than by shareholders seeking dividends. From 2027, policyholders are expected to become members of that ownership structure, further aligning the organisation with the interests of those it serves.
John Wills, a Director of Foresters Healthcare, said: “This change is about putting our local policyholders first. By establishing a dedicated insurer in Guernsey, we are ensuring continuity of cover, maintaining local service, and creating a structure that supports affordable healthcare provision well into the future.”
Policyholders are not required to take any action unless they choose to opt out. Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the Foresters Healthcare team using their usual details.
